Iona
Prep enjoys an excellent academic reputation by providing an enriched
liberal arts education that is geared to instill Christian actions,
to challenge independent and critical thinking, to develop leadership
qualities, and to prepare its students for future studies.
The professional staff, comprised of Christian Brothers and lay
persons, is state certified and further enhances the academic excellence
by currently holding or pursuing advanced degrees in their areas
of expertise. More than 80% of the faculty hold at least one Master's
Degree.
The student to teacher ratio is 13 to 1, with an average class size
of 26 students. This level of attention allows the faculty to interact
more closely with students and helps to develop challenging learning
situations.
Faculty members not only provide supportive academic guidance, but
also serve as mentors for students in and out of the classroom environment.
Students are assigned a guidance counselor in the first year and
remain with that counselor throughout the four years.
In senior year, college advisors guide students and families through
the selection, application and admission processes.
The faculty-driven activities, clubs and service organizations are
further examples of the dedication and commitment to learning that
exist at Iona Prep.
Our teachers do more than teach; they encourage, understand, anticipate
and empathize. These are the hallmarks of Iona Prep teachers!
