Student Life
Welcome to our webpage and thank you for your time and interest in our Iona Prep family. As you come to know our great school, as either a student, parent or visitor , I am confident that you will find that Iona cannot be easily put into words but rather it needs to be experienced to be understood. The Office of Student Life handles matters of attendance, discipline, student activities, campus security and the general well being of our students.
This year marks my twenty fifth year of educating young men in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice. My journey from a young educator to a seasoned educator has been a spectacular one for me. One that I would not trade for any other job. The sense of “one Iona family” has always been present to me through the years as I have helped turn boys into men.
I have been asked to serve in many roles over the years. Namely as Science Department Chair, Assistant Dean of Discipline, Dean of Student Services, Director of Facilities, Guidance Counselor, Network Administrator and most importantly as a classroom teacher.
Some older alumni may know the Dean of Student Life role as the Dean of Discipline but my role today extends far beyond just discipline. As Dean of Student Life I am a mentor, an educator as well as a parental figure. As Dean of Student Life I monitor every aspect of our young men’s integration into our family both on and off campus. Working closely with our Guidance Department, I intervene in the young man’s life when clear signs show help is needed.
Realistically, Iona’s program is not for everyone and it sometimes becomes necessary for parents to consider other programs that may be better suited to their son’s needs. Iona takes its commitment to educating the entire student in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice very seriously and every attempt is made to provide both a safe and demanding environment for those young men entrusted to our care. We do not let family members “fall through the cracks”.
Once again I say that Iona must be experienced to be understood. Come visit our family at any time and see for yourself.
God Bless,
Kieran Daly
