Athletic As a member of the Catholic High School Athletic Association of New York City, Iona Prep athletes achieved the following honors in 2007-2008
Individual students were named as All Americans in Swimming, Lacrosse and a relay team in outdoor track.
Varsity Tennis - City Championship Playoffs ten consecutive years.
Varsity Basketball - League Champions 2008
Track and Field - Indoor Track Westchester County Champions - Outdoor Track Westchester County Champions
Varsity Ice Hockey - Catholic H.S. Champions in the CHSHL
Varsity Lacrosse - CHSAA Championship and Metro NYC Championship
Note: 80% of all team players are honor roll students; the average PSAT scores for current senior varsity athletes is 56 Verbal and 64 Math.
Service Component
Ioa Prep holds service to others as a significant value and utlizes a variety of ways to accomplish this goal. All are encouraged to participate.
Campus Minstry - Sdents plan and carry out liturgical celebrations.
Peer Counseling - Select juniors and seniors lead freshment groups in their
adjustment to high school.
Leadership Committee - Students create and organize an overnight weekend
experience to promote self awareness and communication skills.
Volunteer service projects include: Thanksgiving and Christmas food
drives, toy distribution, mission collections for the assistance of Christian
Brothers in Peru, feeding the homeless and extensive community involvement. |
