MONTHLY TIMETABLE Class of 2008 September
- Resolve to perform your best during this final year of high school.
- Prepare a list of schools that match your major, location and admission standards.
- Utilize college websites to e-mail or call or write for catalogs or interviews.
- Plan visits to colleges using Open House days or for an individual tour.
- Finish your college essay and have it reviewed.
- Meet college representatives who visit Iona Prep.
- Check deadlines if you are considering Early Action or Early Decision applications.
- Some few colleges will require the CSS Profile to be considered for financial aid; it is available at www.collegeboard.com. Check with your counselor to see if your school requires this document.
- Registration deadline for the October 4th session of the SAT I is Septmebr 9th.
- Registration deadline for the November 1st session of the SAT I is September 26th.
- If you are considering playing a sport in college, you need to register for eligibility with the NCAA. The website is www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Fill in the application and bring the release form to the guidance secretary so that your transcript will be sent to the NCAA. You need to send your SAT scores directly to the NCAA using code 9999 for the NCAA.
October
- Finalize your list of 8 to 10 colleges using the target, reach and safety schools model.
- October 4th SAT I/II Test Day.
- October 13th and October 15th are Senior College Visit Days.
- Guidance Department deadline of October 16th for submission of any Early Action/Decision application that is due at the college on November 1st.
- College Fair at Westchester County Center, White Plains on October 20th (evening.) College Fair at Yorktown High School on October 21st.
- Begin to bring completed applications to the guidance office for processing - $5 fee per application.
- Visit college campuses, attend Open House events and go on interviews
- Registration deadline for the December 1st session of SAT I is October 30th.
- Guidance department deadline of October 31st for any Early Action/Decision application that is due at the college on November 15th.
- Meet college representatives who visit Iona Prep.

December
- Guidance Department deadline: Seniors must submit any application due at a college before January 10th to the guidance office by December 5th.
- December 6th SAT I/SAT II test day.
- Registration deadline for January 24th SAT test day is December 26th.
- Review FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov for submission to the federal government in support of your financial aid application. They are due by the end of January. You can acquire a personal identification number for FAFSA at www.PIN.ed.gov
- Review academic or talent scholarship opportunities for deadlines and completeness.
- If you have been accepted under an Early Decision program, you are required to withdraw all other applications as soon as possible.
- You need to inform the guidance office of the decision of the college regarding your early applications. Whether accepted, denied, deferred or wait listed, please bring a copy of your letter to the guidance office.

Guidance Department Deadline of January 5th for all applications due at the college by January 15th.

Financial Aid Workshop for Parents Saturday, January 10th, 10a.m.; overview of financial aid and directions for filling out the FAFSA.

Finish first semester with strong effort. Your 1st semester grades will be sent to colleges during the fourth week of January. February

- Colleges may invite you to attend an Accepted Students Day or regional reception given by their alumni. These events can provide helpful information in making your final decision.
- When accepted, you should receive a financial aid package in the same mailing or within a week. If this does not happen, contact your college.
- Do not hesitate to contact the financial aid office of the college for clarification of their awards. Ask for an interview if you think it will be helpful. In some colleges, the admissions office and financial aid offices can be separate departments.
- If you are awarded a scholarship, please bring copies of your awards to the guidance office so that they can be acknowledged in the graduation program.
- Give copies of acceptance, wait list, or denial decision by the colleges to the guidance office so that we can keep our information current.
May
- May 1st is the national registration date for colleges in the US. You risk losing a committed space or housing placement if you fail to commit to a college by May 1st.
- Continue to give copies of your correspondence with the colleges to the guidance office.
- Notify the colleges to which you were accepted, but you are not attending of your decision to attend another college.
- Inform the guidance office of your final decision as to where you will attend college. We are responsible for sending your final transcript and medical records to the college you will attend.
- Registration for June 6th SAT I/II is May 5th.
