Cell Phone Policy

Iona Preparatory School strongly encourages students to leave their cell phones home. Parents who wish to have their sons carry cell phones to school must read the Iona Preparatory School Cell Phone Contract and be familiar with its contents.

Before School (6:30 AM until 8:25 AM)
  • No cell phone use is permitted.
  • Cell phones must be turned "OFF."
During school (8:25AM until 2:41 PM)
  • All cell phones must be turned "OFF" and placed in the student's locker.
  • If a student's cell phone is ringing or vibrating from inside a locker, an administrator will open the locker and turn the phone over to the main office.
  • Students not complying with the policy will have their phones taken away until a parent or guardian comes to the main office to retrieve the phone.
After school (2:41 PM until 5:00 PM)
No student may talk on his cell phone, or have his cell phone on "RING" or "VIBRATE" anywhere on campus except:
  • On the school portico.
  • In the main lobby.
  • Students not complying with the policy will have their phones taken away until a parent or guardian comes to the main office to retrieve the phone.
Other important Rules:
  • Students who do not comply with this policy can have their contract voided by the administration and they will not be allowed to bring their cell phones to school.
  • All other electronic communication equipment is strictly banned.
  • The Iona Preparatory School Administration will make the final judgment in all cases involving possible cell phone violations.
